Ashes

Remembering from whence we came,
considering a time when there was no shame—
one decision changed the game.
Now here is where the shift went to blame.
At the entrance to the garden was placed a flame.
Nothing was ever the same
until the only One qualified came.
To make death a public spectacle was His aim.
All those who love Him are His to claim.
The Name above every name—
He intimately knows our frame.
His love flows like an endless rain
watering every dry field and grain.
Come, let Him nurture and heal your pain.
He breaks every shackle and every chain.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Let go of vain;
He will remove the stain.
Together forever we will rule and reign.

Day 10 of Lent
I love this time of year because it presents an opportunity to dig a little deeper into my faith, and my relationship with God and others. It reminds me from dust I was created and dust I will return. The writer of Ecclesiastes declares “Meaningless! Meaningless!” Says the teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.” This may sound a bit depressing, but for me it is a reminder that life here on earth is fleeting. I want to make the most of the life I’ve been given and most of all share the love of God with others. Dig deep friends.
Love and blessings this Lenten season.
