Finding In The Fast

Denying one’s appetite,

preparing an altar by candlelight,

emptying this vessel of mine,

seeking wisdom for such a time—

this mountain I must climb,

an ascent toward the divine,

not a serendipitous incline

but rather a purposeful redefine,

discovery of something new,

authentic and true through and through,

deeper and more aware,

prior knowledge could not compare.

A daunting discipline I trepidatiously dare,

unpacking what I find,

that which was once so blind,

now lovingly exposed

for a glorious intention,

no longer worthless

but prepared for service.

This poem was written one year ago, as I was earnestly seeking God’s guidance for 2019. My eyes were opened to his answer for me. This is where my writing journey began. As I reflect on this last year with a grateful heart. I see His loving hand guiding me through great loss and great joy. I dedicate this poem to those earnestly seeking God’s plan for your life. It is never too late! The scripture I have found to be so dear to me is this; Love, Bears all things, Believes all things, Hopes all things, Endures all things. 1Cor- 13:7 Happy New Year Friends! May you find God’s plan for you in 2020!
